Prepare young people for a professional career. That is the objective of the Trade Apprentice Program (Programa Aprendiz de Ofício) of Aperam South America. Created in 1953, the Program is one of the most traditional of its kind in the region. From its creation up to the present moment, more than 6.000 apprentices have joined this apprenticeship program.
The Trade Apprentice Program is a partnership between Aperam and Senai that aims at training and preparing young people for a professional career. By taking the apprenticeship training courses “Steelmaking Operator” and “Mechanical Maintenance”, young people undergo theoretical lessons in Aperam’s Professional Apprenticeship Centre, and then they do an internship in the Company’s plant in Timóteo. Being an apprentice with Aperam is the first step into a successful professional career.
The Trade Apprentice Program is one of the main gateways into Aperam, in addition to being an opportunity for preparation and beginning of a successful professional career. In 2015, around 80% of apprentices became official employees of the Company.
